Corry Micronics offers product design consulting services in order to assist customers in their most challenging applications. Improved reliability and component- and installation-cost savings are hallmarks of our designs. By assembling one of the strongest staffs of design engineers in the industry, with an average of over 24 years of relevant industry experience, we are uniquely qualified in this area. Our engineering team has accumulated almost 120 total years of industry experience with well-known firms such as Spectrum Control, Tusonix, Philips, Murata, and others.
Some examples of recent success stories include:
- Defense - Corry Micronics was contacted in 2001 by a major defense contractor to solve a hermetic filtering problem in a missile application. Our customer's existing feedthru technologies were not capable of consistently handling extreme environmental and atmospheric conditions, resulting in either hermetic, or in some cases, catastrophic failures. We began our analysis by studying the existing, rather complicated technologies and determined the root causes of each failure. With reliability as the prime objective, we concluded that greater simplification was vital and quickly finalized our design accordingly. After our own testing and verification, and that of our customer, we found that with this simplification, more reliable performance was realized, as well as overall cost savings.
- Microwave Communications - Corry Micronics has worked on microwave projects with frequency ranges to 40 Ghz. We have designed unfiltered and filtered connectors with center conductors as small as 9 millimeters. Many of our recent designs have included data lines, as well as power lines. Working with our end customers, we have created custom ceramic filters that have been designed not to affect the edges of the digital pulses. We design and then produce the ceramic filters at one location. This co-location of ceramic filter production and design engineering enables us to deliver prototypes faster than any of our competitors.

- Telecommunications - Corry Micronics has been working with major telecommunications companies to solve their power-related problems in systems such as fiber optic nodes, broadband amplifiers, DSL equipment, routers, and switching equipment.
- In 2003, we were contracted by a telecommunications company to redesign the filtering associated with their DSL equipment. We successfully designed a new filtered terminal block that saves on installation time and has reduced the number of components, leading to a higher mean time between failures (MTBF). This program is an example of a win-win situation because we are supplying the filtered terminal blocks at a fraction of the historical cost.
- Through our engineering and product supply agreement with Cooper Bussmann, we are able to provide custom filtered terminal blocks ranging from 10 amperes up to 200 amperes. Recently, we designed a 200 amp, modular filtered terminal block. This unit was specifically designed to be hot-swapped during normal operation resulting in no downtime to the system, a feature that is critical in most lifeline telephony services. The modular unit can also be upgraded to include additional filtering elements, should the need arise.
